The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NC DPI) recently released its 2022-2023 CTE Credential Attainment Report. One stunning achievement is that more than 325,000 credentials were earned by career and technical education (CTE) high school students in the 2022-23 academic year, the highest attainment rate in the 13 years that NC DPI and the Office of Career and Technical Education (NC CTE) have been collecting this data.
The credentials offered include 70 of the approximately 160 credentials designated as NC Workforce Credentials (NCWFC), which are “priority non-degree credentials that are valued by employers and put those who earn them on a path to a sustainable wage career.” (Check out our localized database to find out where students and workers of all ages can earn NC Workforce Credentials in our region.)
In the 2022-2023 school year, North Carolina public schools offered 333 different credentials to students in the following categories:
- Agricultural Education
